In 2007 the primary Booktown (Booktown for a Day) was held attracting over 6,000 guests. Since then a two day competition, Clunes Booktown Pageant has been held yearly in Might. Over 60 booktraders from round Australia deliver inventory to the city and arrange store for the weekend. Avenue leisure, meals and wine, music and author’s talks add to the festivities.
In April 2012 Clunes gained Worldwide Organisation of Booktowns membership, turning into the fifteenth Worldwide Booktown and the one booktown in Australia.
